Cul2vator Field Trips and Training
The Cul2vators have been so eager to learn all they can about farming, to improve themselves, and to give back. To say the Cul2vators and Cul2vate staff have been embraced by the farming community would be huge understatement! Envision instead your favorite Aunt showering you with love and affection after not having seen you for some time. That is what the local farming community is truly like!
Let’s talk about field trips. Delvin Farms is a wonderful example of a local independent farm in Arrington, TN working hard to provide high quality produce, products, and more to the local community. They work hard to ensure the next of their family are excited to be farmers! The have a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) subscription program and a beautiful farm store. Be sure to visit them soon!
Also in recent visits was Morning Glory Orchard in Nolensville, TN. Alyson shared her family story, her heart, and their beautiful 10 acres with us. We learned about growing, pruning, picking, and selling both apples and peaches. After recently adding a commercial kitchen, they have many canned products available along with (currently) apple cider, apple sauce, caramel apple cheesecake(!) and more! Be sure to visit them in the near future. We plan to come back in the spring to have a picnic in the orchard.
Allied Boiler & Supply also recently visited the farm to give lessons on maintaining and working our boiler. The boiler serves to heat 2 greenhouses so that we can grow crops even during the winter months. Their class on safety and operation proved pivotal to helping the Cul2vators understand and be able to use it.
We would like to thank each of these folks for sharing their time and talents with us. Stay tuned for more updates as the Adventures in Farming continue! Now keep scrolling to see a few pictures.
