Farmers Market Season is upon us!
Produce is growing along at our farm at Ellington Agricultural Center. We will have tomatoes, greens, lettuce, onions, and more in the very near future! We hope to see you at our booth at Farmin’ in the Hall on Thursdays from 4:30 -7:30 p.m. starting May 11 through August 31. You won’t find fresher produce anywhere! We are looking forward to seeing you there.
Portrait of a Cul2vate Volunteer
We rely heavily on the support, sweat, and love of volunteers. This month, we’d like for you to meet, Zachary! Zachary is 16, and is one of our key volunteers. He came to Cul2vate in July of 2016 because he needed service hours for school. He was put straight to work and not spared tasks because of his age – which he professes he appreciates! A diligent worker, Zach has become an integral part of the farm and continues to volunteer even after meeting his school requirement. When asked why, he says, “There are a lot of people around the world who need help, and I can’t go to Africa. But I can do something here.” Is it a wonder his giving spirit resonates and why he is such a loved part of the Cul2vate team?
Zach knows that one cannot “magically” grow closer to God. You have to work at it. Selfless acts, like his volunteer work with Cu2lvate, help boost his confidence. Zach feels as though he is following Jesus’s example and serving God by helping feed people in need.
We thank you, Zachary, for all your hard work and dedication. You are truly an inspiration of service and love.
