Fighting Food Insecurity Takes a Village

At Cul2vate, we always cherish partnerships that allow us to reach more neighbors with wholesome food and hope. Having a partnership with Church of the City Franklin (COTC) for a few years has allowed us to grow more food and serve more people with the garden we have with them. And when COTC started The Village, we saw a wonderful way to walk out our partnership further by feeding foster families.

The Village

The Village is the church’s way of meeting the needs of the vulnerable. A resource center on the campus of COTC Franklin that supports mental health initiatives, single parents, foster families, and those aging out of the foster care system.

We were honored to be apart of the Village Open House in the summer, where our Flower Specialist Abby provided flowers for the tablescapes.

And we returned for The Village Grand Opening to share Cul2vate resources with the community.

Feeding Foster Families

Since the inception of The Real Food Box program this summer, we delivered 77 boxes of fresh Cul2vate produce, shelf stable goods, and local meat to families at the Village. Being able to feed families wholesome food and help reduce their financial burdens warms our hearts.

Cassie, the Farm Manager at COTC shared her thoughts, “I don’t think I could be more proud of [Cul2vate] and what we do for the Kingdom. We heard stories all night long about how we have helped so many.”

One of Cul2vate’s core values is community. We seek to partner with those who need food, meaningful work, and hope for tomorrow. By being in community with like-minded people, we can build a stronger network to help our neighbors because it truly takes a village.
