Cassie Chapman
Cassie Chapman, originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia, grew up on her family’s farm, where she spent her childhood raising livestock, gardening, and enjoying rural life with her family. Though she later pursued a “city girl” lifestyle, including cheerleading at Morehead State University and the University of Louisville, she always felt a deep connection to her roots. After moving to Nashville in 2007, marrying, and adopting her daughter in 2013, Cassie eventually settled in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2017. Her love for farming resurfaced when she joined Church of the City Franklin, where Pastor Darren Whitehead’s “The Village” initiative addressed community needs like food insecurity. This led her to Cul2vate. Cassie volunteered at Cul2vate’s community garden for two years, helping transform a six-acre farm into a productive site that yielded 70,000 pounds of food in one season.
Now employed by Cul2vate, she finds immense fulfillment in this “Kingdom work,” blending her farming background with her desire to serve others. Despite past careers in interior design, photography, and television, Cassie feels most at peace in this role, proud of the diverse team she works with and their impact on feeding the community and feeding hearts. She credits her success to learned patience and the art of the pivot—honed through parenting a special-needs child and farming.
