Hannah

Meet Hannah, one of our Cul2vators who started with us in March. She shares how she came to Cul2vate, her favorite farm, and what she’s learning about tending crops. Read or watch the interview and be on the lookout for part 2.
How did you come to Cul2vate?
So, rehab brought me to Tennessee, and from rehab, I went to sober living, and I was at the point in my program where I needed a job, and I had no idea what the heck I was going to do. So I prayed about it, and the next day, one of the staff members at my sober living was like, oh, there’s this place called Cul2vate, they’re hiring. So I was like, okay, that was straightforward. So, I applied, and here I am.
What is your favorite farm to work and why?
Probably Brentwood: it has really pretty background scenery that I love to look at. You can see mountains and stuff. So, whenever I’m having a moment of frustration or getting fed up or too hot or anything, I just take a deep breath and look at the pretty scenery and be like, everything’s gonna be okay.
What has been exciting about learning how to tend crops? What has been discouraging?
Discouraging is it’s physically hard. But encouraging, it’s really nice. My favorite thing to do is planting, because I like to tuck them in the dirt. It’s like, oh, good luck. little seed. And then they sprout, and then they grow, and then eventually you get to harvest. So, yeah, just nice seeing things grow.
