Beating the Heat with Curling!

When it’s the middle of summer, the heat index is soaring every day, and everyone is tired of picking okra, you have to get creative. At Cul2vate, that meant finding an activity to cool down, laugh a little, and spend time together as a family.

So we went ice cold – literally! The Cul2vate team headed to to Tee Line and to try curling, a team sport played on ice where players push “stones” towards a target area called “the house”. Think of it as part hockey, part shuffleboard, and all teamwork. The team went After splitting into teams, each one a mixture of Cul2vators and staff, our Cul2vate family got ready to curl!

Kyle, our Brentwood Baptist farm manager, surprised everyone with his competitive streak and lively trash talk. Jermaine, one of our Cul2vators, grinned as he tried something totally new, saying he’d never experienced anything like it before. And Pan, our assistant farm manager, put his soccer skills to work — but this time on ice instead of grass!

The day was filled with laughter, friendly rivalries, and plenty of sliding stones. Most importantly, it gave our team a chance to bond outside the farm, beat the summer heat, and enjoy something new together. It was a reminder that at Cul2vate, we grow more than food — we grow relationships, resilience, and joy.
