From Field to Frying Pan: Culinary Adventures with Cul2vate

Earlier this month, our Cul2vators took their talents from the field to the kitchen with a fun and flavorful cooking class. Our long-time partner, The Heimerdinger Foundation, uses fresh local ingredients (including Cul2vate produce) to cook nutritious meals for cancer patients. This time, they offered to show our Cul2vators how to craft homemade meals, too!

The preparation featured butternut squash that our very own Cul2vators had planted, nurtured, and picked. With their special harvest, they cooked up a delicious dish of Honey Roasted Butternut Squash, paired with Honey Mustard Chicken and a fresh side salad.

The process began with peeling, cutting, and hollowing out the squash. Cul2vators Jermaine, Dustin, and Bobby (pictured below) approached what can be considered a tedious process with great enthusiasm!

They then seasoned the squash to taste – either with a touch of cinnamon for sweetness or a sprinkle of garlic powder for a savory spin.

Meanwhile, our generous friends at the Heimerdinger Foundation prepared the chicken and salad (featuring Cul2vate produce) for everyone to take home and enjoy.

James, Pennie, Michael, Dustin, and Ziggy show off their inner chefs.
Stephen shows off his next meal.

Look at the joy on the faces of the whole team as they embraced their culinary skills! We saw each new chef tap into their creativity in a whole new setting!

Check out this video of their cooking adventures! And join us in offering a huge thank you to the Heimerdinger Foundation for making this day so special!
