Matt was born and raised in Franklin, TN. After years of bouncing around the southeast searching for direction, he followed God to Cape Town, South Africa. He spent a year serving an organization called Living Hope, and worked alongside Joey Lankford and the team who built the agricultural program there.
Matt left Africa in October of 2014 and returned to Nashville to marry his high-school sweetheart, Jamison. Feeling God calling him into a life of full-time ministry as his career, Matt began working for Brentwood Baptist Church in their missions department. He worked there for two years, spending one year in their renowned Ministry Residency program.
During his residency, Matt was trained in the methodologies, philosophies, and theology of organizational and spiritual leadership. It was in this program that he was tasked to take on a ministry assignment for exposure in the field while creating a space to simultaneously receive practical training. Matt began talking with Joey Lankford and the rest of the Cul2vate leadership about serving Cul2vate in a way to help build the curriculum and discipleship track for training our Cul2vators. Little did he know that he would literally be getting his exposure “in the field” on Cul2vate’s farm!
After completing and graduating from the Ministry Residency in August of 2016, Matt joined our team to manage farming operations and continue to oversee our training and discipleship of current and future Cul2vators. He and his wife, a registered dietitian, live in Nashville, and are excited to continue serving their two greatest loves, Jesus Christ and food.
